Partnerships Cruise crew and attendees participate in the Breast Cancer Awareness 5K. Each year, the American Queen Voyages™ chooses a cause to support. Knowing breast cancer has affected crew members, shoreside team members and cruise guests, this year the company partnered with Susan G. Komen®. In October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Cruise sailed down the Mississippi River from St. Louis to New Orleans. The cruise was awash in pink—from the crew sporting pink ribbons to a pink party sock hop. It was only fitting as this particular cruise was all about honoring those living with breast cancer, remembering those who have passed and giving back to Susan G. Komen®. Cruise activities included a survivor recognition event, during which Betty Lincoln, a three-time breast cancer survivor, shared her story and celebrated her 94th birthday; a virtual question and answer session with Cati Stone, Komen’s vice president of community health, who shared the important work Komen is doing; and a Breast Cancer Awareness 5K walk. The cruise raised $50,000 for Susan G. Komen and helped raise awareness among both the crew and the cruise attendees.
