Support Cancer Research Through Walgreens Today

Anyone can make a difference in the lives of people facing breast cancer today and in the future. One of the easiest ways you can get involved is through a partnership with Walgreens, Susan G. Komen (Komen) and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in February and March. Money raised will help accelerate research for breast and blood cancers, and for patient support programs.

As part of the partnership, Walgreens offers two ways for customers to donate to the “Raise Hope, End Cancer” fundraiser. During the months of February and March, shoppers can donate their Walgreens Cash rewards to the “Raise Hope, End Cancer” fundraiser directly from their myWalgreens account online or through the mobile app. When logging onto your myWalgreens account, within your account dashboard you will see a link to donate your Walgreens Cash rewards. From there, you can select a custom amount to donate based on the Walgreens Cash rewards available in your account. Donated dollars will be split equally between Komen and LLS.

Additionally, shoppers can visit stores from Feb. 28 to March 13 and make a pin-pad donation during check-out. More than 9,000 U.S. Walgreens retail and specialty stores are participating in the pin pad program, and all dollars raised will be split evenly between the two organizations.

Komen will leverage the donated funds to accelerate the pace of research discovery, particularly as it relates to understanding and combating breast cancer recurrence and metastasis, and support people facing breast cancer today through local patient support services, including the Komen Helpline and Komen’s Treatment Assistance Program.

The partnership between Walgreens and Komen builds on a long history of collaboration, both nationally and regionally, to support patients at every step of their cancer journey. The current fundraising initiative provides anyone the chance to support cancer research, no matter the size of the donation.

An estimated 3.8 million people in the U.S. have been treated for or are living with breast cancer – the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women – and nearly 1.4 million people in the U.S. are living with or in remission from blood cancer.

Developing the breakthrough treatments for breast and blood cancers requires everyone working together so that together, we can fight cancer. From the donation made at Walgreens to the lab researcher and oncologist, everyone plays a critical role in the cures for cancer.
